We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.

You gotta learn to hold ya own.
They get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone.
But tell the cops they can't touch this.
I don't trust this, when they try to rush I bust this.
That's the sound of my tune. You say it ain't cool, but mama didn't raise no fool.
- tupac

we had some changes at work today that definetly will prove to be interesting. that's all i'll say about that for now... (mostly b/c i know jM reads my website. HELLO!! hahah! :-p

anyway, i heard the greatest news today. Marty Sampson has released his solo project, Let Love Rule. It's a lovey dovey album, so dont be shocked when you go to his site and his pics of him and his wife.. hehh. but so yeah, i am officially pre-order number 18!!! w00t!

yesterday we went to times square church and had chicken & rice afterwards. seriously, after eating the fake stuff for the last few months from the vendor across the street from work, it was a pleasant change to have the real deal holyfield last night. and it seems they definetly made the upgrade. white plastic bags? replaced with yellow thick plastic bags with their logo on it! hot sauce - white sauce? now they come in seperate little plastic containers for efficiency. if youve known about these changes for a while, i apologize. i havent had 53rd & 6th in a while...

so lately, church has been really good. lots more support and spirit-filled meetings. we're even starting to sing a lot of the more current songs that have personally been strengthening me in my walk... here's what's been rotating in our rotating setlist:

Mighty to Save
None But Jesus
For Who You Are

all three are by hillsong and i highly recommend you go and cop the latest albums....ya heard? aight im done being ghetto. bye!

Apple introduces the iPhone

It hasn't even been a week since the revolutionary handheld device was introduced, and already everyone has made their judgements on it. There's even a lawsuit filed by Cisco on the product name..

i personally dont think it will become a hot item since its only available through cingular, its only the first gen, is susceptable to damage moreso than a regular cellphone (and who in their right mind is gonna pay another $500 for a replacement? - cuz we all know Apple's warranty system SUCKS), and well...me and my grubby hands would ruin the touchscreen. i also would want to maximize the phone features, and i believe its only available in 4 gig right now. um, yeah i have a 30 gig ipod? im happy with that, thank you very much! it WOULD be nice though, if verizon could finally carry a cool cellphone. my service agreement ends in August and i would love to get a hot phone.. we shall see what the future holds for iPhone (or whatever it will end up being called after Apple loses the lawsuit).

America, meet Soccer. Soccer, meet America. thats right suckas! get ready, cuz pretty soon this sport is gonna be the only thing you hear about. woohoo!! now i dont have to wait for the World Cup to come around every 4 years (not to mention setting my alarm for 4am just so i can watch the USA vs. [insert name of Country] game LIVE from Germany!) some drawbacks: Posh Spice L.A. invasion.. her image will be plastered all over our tv's, magazines... what will Paris Hilton do!? also....this could seed rumors of a Spice Girl reunion tour. NOOOO please anything but THAT!!

ah yes, civic doodie
January 09, 2007
12:49 AM

time- 8:30am to 4:20pm
location- queens borough hall
reason- jury duty
verdict- exempt
reaction- i understand its our "civic duty" to actively take part in the legal system. i also understand that this is one of the moral fibers of our democracy. yeah yeah yeah. but missing 4 weeks of work for a case for $40/day? PSH! honestly, there are plenty of people who will gladly serve as a juror. why not keep using & reusing these people? others of us are unable to put aside our demanding lifestyles just to lock up thendis. i demand a recount on the repealment of "employment as a valid excusal for jury service"! on a fun-ner note, i saw a girl from high school there. and she actually had with her another girl who was in the grade above us. randomness, definitely. we didnt really catch up on old times much, we were busy counting down the minutes til they dimissed us.

in other less pressing matters, i finally found the pair of green Champion®'s i thought i would never find again!!!!! i have to say, while Champion® brand sneakers are pretty cheap-o and not what's "in", i love their assortment of colors... id never spend $80 on a pair of green sneakers...(well maybe unless they were a hot pair of pumas).... but yeah, why not save money but still be sportin green kicks!? exactly!

and now i shall leave you with wise words from Mr. Marty Sampson. enjoy!

salt and light
Current mood: happy
Category: happy Life

just a reminder to us who follow the way...

i opened my bible afte a long session of surfing the net and lookin at some real funny vids.. they are out there.. tryin to get my head around what kind of world my kids are going to one day grow up in.. a long time away...

it is daunting, sometimes.. as a kid you've got so many things you gotta look out 4.. the biggest thing is who and what influences you.. i always thought of Jesus as havin such a tight relationship with the father that he was most influenced by him.. hence the thought that Jesus was the man.. coz he stayed real close to the Father in this world..

so i flicked open the word and did the 'flick and pick', for those who arent educated in the 'flick and pick' (different from the pick and flick) its when you are believin God to speak to you, and you open the bible and trust that the first thing you see is straight from the throne room.. sometimes you hit "and God sent a plague among them to punish them".. after that you conclude that God is playin a joke on you, but you freak out anyway and repent for the things you can't really remember doing wrong, but you just pray 'im sorry' anyway...

well i did the flick and pick, and believed this was from the Holy G -

The word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, you are living among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people.

ezekiel 12:1-2

to put in context.. the whole world has eyes and ears, but they arent looking for God or trying to hear his voice.. they are into their rebellion without realising it so much of the time, in whatever form that is, and God is on the outside.. not cool... especially if you're God.. i'm not slammin people, the reality is, people just dont get God..

i think thats what jesus is talking about when he says, 'you are the light of the world'

its up to us who do care about God, even though we can be real selfish a lot of the time, to really care about what he's saying and today do the God thing, not the world thing..

so look youre little brother square in the eye and tell him you love him, even if you're used to beatin him down like my big brother used to do to me (i'm just kiddin, but it still hurts)...

and love your crew who arent tight with God.. it really changes things..

especially on this site, dont be self righteous, but stand for your love for christ. and stand up for his love for others.

the final thought i got right now is, the two greatest commandments that came from jesus mouth were to love.

i'm no hero, i dont get it right.. i can easily get road rage and not be showin my Jesus style love to my fellow man, but thats my bad.. thats my salt getin a little less salty.. and Jesus isnt into it..

when you're living, love. love God with all your heart soul mind and strength.. and love others as yourself..

im not even going to mention dont judge others, thats a gimme.. if you judge others, hold the same candle to your own life, and see how much dirt you got on for clothes.. but regardless of how bad we make God look sometimes, forget yourself and love others..

thats my preach.

all Jesus was trying to get into us was, if you really want to be a Christian, you're guna do this one thing:

Love.

so take what i'm sayin, and drop someone a line who isn't a christian, and tell em how good a person they are and how much you are pumped they are a friend of yours.. it could be one of the few 'someone loves me' moments in the day for them.. and they will feel good about themselves and buy you a coke the next time they see you... rewards... i'm just kidding.. but seriously.. flick someone a comment and tell em they're a good bloke, if they're a man.. or something...

you can be salty..

do it..

do it..

yew

p.s. you better do it.. or else the next flick and pick might be about the four horsemen of the apocalypse...

love.

BEST DAY AT EI... EVER
December 29, 2006
11:08 AM

ever have one of those days when nothing could go wrong? when the sun's smiling down on you, not a raincloud in the sky, and you feel like skipping down the block like a little school girl? yeah me neither.

but yesterday was almost just as good!! here at ei, there is a #1, a.k.a. my favorite elusive coworker, who always turns me down for any workplace socializing that does not occur while looking at a computer monitor.

since most coworkers are on vacation this week, the office was pretty empty and work was a bit slower than usual so #1 finally decided to have lunch with me in the kitchen after 8 months of begging!! thus beginneth the first hour of the best day ever at ei.

then around 3 p.m, #1 accompanied myself and others to the local japanese grocery store to go find some eel. while i gagged and waited for them to finish, i managed to gross myself out by poking at a bag of jellyfish..or something.. on a shelf. yes i am ignorant, get over it. shortly thereafter, we headed to Evil Empire (*$). thus was the second hour of the best day ever at ei.

riding off the high that i was on throughout the day, at around 4:45 p.m. i got up the nerve to ask #1 to walk with me and #25 to 6th avenue on our way home. #1 obliged and there we were headed to hour number three of the best day ever at ei.

as we approached the 6th ave station, it was hard for me to walk down the subway steps, thus ending the best day ever at ei. i waved farewell to #1 and #25 and thanked the good Lord for blessing me with such a shat-tastic day.

p.s. #1 is married to a very pretty lady so please dont get the wrong idea here otherwise i will punch you all in the face. i just like harassing people at work. you should know this. ok the end. bye!

25 and still immature! :)
December 23, 2006
01:55 PM

merry christmas eve eve, everyone!

this christmas finds me in a very comfortable position. family life is good: parents are relatively healthy, brothers & sister-in-law are prosperous, all by God's grace. im spiritually, financially, socially, and physically growing (yes, im getting fat again but this won't be a permanent change). and to top it all off, i have my lil brudder Diesel. so all in all, praise God from whom all blessings flow! my life would be miserable without Him as my best friend!

I definetly racked up on the christmas presents at work this year - very unexpected and im very grateful! i even owned this JBL iPod speaker system for 5 minutes, before it was taken away by a coworker (we were playin the horribly unfestive "Grab Bag" game. this was the first and last time i will ever play this cruel excuse for a holiday game!!! :-p). for full coverage on what i received this year, please head on over to the fotki foto spot. yes, i took pictures of my gifts. shutup!!

so anyway, back to the subject of this entry. there's this specialty pizza place near EI that my coworkers and I go to now and then. its thin-crust rectangular slices that you order by the inch.. hence the name of the estalishment, Pizza by the Inch (PINCH).

the story goes a little like this.. (ok, it goes exactly like this): a few months back, bC was at the kitchen table with us eating 18" worth of PINCH pizza. we were all impressed, until he gave up on the last 3 inch slice. i of course mocked him and boasted i could soooooooo finish off 18". fast forward to a couple months back. one hungrier-than-usual day, i decided to live up to my 18" claim. and i rocked it. i didnt even have to take a 5 minute break! (this is why im fat, i know). so i let bC know his record had been broken. he then challenged me to a duel sometime in the future.

yesterday, that duel was actualized. we both attempted to finish 24" PINCHes. much to my dismay, a whole bunch of coworkers were secretly notified of this PINCH battle royale, and came into the conference room (which we had overtaken as our battleground) and watched - including the head of the tech department. unfortunately for me, bC finished a little faster than I did, so he won by a few inches (literally - bwahahaha...) but he barely made it through - we had agreed on Thai Chilli peppers as the topping of choice since we both like spicy food, but it ended up being HOTTERRR than usual. bC had to take water breaks, while i chomped along at my steady pace. hahah it was so embarassing.....but everyone was shocked that we were neck-in-neck. i definetly gained their respect....and about 5 pounds. surprisingly though, i havent lost my appettite for pizza... i guess it really is my favorite food.

okay my friends, i should get going. so until the next holiday comes around, take care & God bless!

THE END IS SOONER THAN YOU THINK
November 24, 2006
04:20 PM

how quickly time flies! i can't believe its almost the end of november, let alone the end of 2006. this year has had its ups and downs, but make no mistake, it was one eventful year! a new job, a new puppy, friends getting married, new friends, new unwarranted dramas (the former and the latter are not necessarily related), new new new!

God has definetly been faithful to me these past 25 years and definetly did not let me down this year. so to borrow for our ever-so-eloquent Grammy Award winning rap artists, "I'd like to thank God...and my hair stylist Shaquanda!" just kidding :)

so lets see. since the last time i wrote, my birthday came and went (thank you to ALL of the people who called, emailed, txt msg'd, sent flowers, bought food, treated to dinner, etc. etc. you are all my favorite. until christmas. times running out on buying me the next present!! hurrrry.

also, my lil brudder Diesel signed up for a Dogster profile (sorta like a Friendster profile) and he's already been mackin it wit da ladies.

i finally bought a pair of UGGs!! took me two years. and 1 weekend of seeking out a store that carried them in chestnut brown (thanks Lord & Taylor!) my brother tells me they are ugly every time he sees them. and he says i only bought them b/c i want to be like the girls on Laguna Beach. he couldnt be more wrong. i want to be like the girls on Making the Band 3. GEEZ, get it right!!!!! just kidding again. but yeah they (the boots) are soooo comfy and i recommend them to everyone. they are worth every penny.

uh... work has been tough and long hour-y. which is normal. also, my manager and another girl from our department left the company last week. it was sad to see them go, but we all wish them the best of luck.

im going to dallas next weekend for the housewarming. should be fun but its only a 4.5 day visit...not enough time to go to the rodeo! i will go one day...i vow to you!

from the recommendation of shanella, i started reading japanese manga..and its actually really cute!! i finished reading the Cardcaptor Sakura series, and i cant wait to start the next series! if you guys like anime and random storylines that make no sense, manga is for you....

ok i think im done for now. time to enjoy the rest of my Black Friday by sleeping. ta ta.

im ti(red) so i think i'll update
October 25, 2006
02:09 PM

our db servers are down at work, so i think i'll post a quick update on stuff that comes to mind from the last few weeks:

+ we won our first company soccer game 11-10. our record is now 1-3. we rule the school.

+ after that game, i was walking with some of my coworkers on 23rd near Chelsea Piers and they saw (i saw his body but not his face) Eddie Cibrian from Third Watch/Invasion. anybody still want to debate me and my bad luck for the last 25 years of my life?

+ they were filming a movie near my building. and apparently, according to my coworker, it was a Jennifer Garner movie. kenny - i know you are thrilled. sorry, no Michael Vartan spotting.

+ there was an "ashtray" fire outside of our building today. they told us not to worry. but we SOOO smelled the smoke in the office.

+ diesel is home alone every weekday for the next 4 weeks. i am sad.

+ the other night, i was watching "True Life: I'm a Staten Island Girl" on mtv...and one of the girls was driving into the city for an interview for a waitressing job. she drove by MY building. i saw the NY Burger Co. & PAX on our corner.

+ i just threw away my hummus on a tomato basil wrap because it was too hummus-y. and now im drowning my sorrows in a can of Sunkist orange soda.

+ yesterday was my 6 month anniversary here at work.

+ db is back up. peace out!

CREEPY EP
October 12, 2006
10:51 PM

today i had a client meeting in delaware so my amtrak train was leaving penn station at 7am. i was supposed to meet some of my coworkers at the big Amtrak board in the terminal.

i wanted to get there around 6:45am so i took extra care last night to set 3 consecutive annoying ringtone alarms on my cell phone for 4:30am, 4:31am,and 4:32am. i even told my mom that "just in case" she was awake at 4:30am, to give me a hollerrrrr. 4:30am, my alarm goes off and i pop outta bed. luckily, i didnt have to take Diesel out this morning b/c i had asked my brudder to let Diesel sleep in his room for the night. i get ready, eat my breakfast, and am out of the door at 5:35am.

now, the last time i went to delaware for a client meeting, i got awesome parking on the sidestreet closest to the train station. so this morning as im zooming along the empty streets, im expecting a prime spot yet again. UM NO SORRY. try parking on the same block in zimbabwe that i normally park on every other day. okay so fine, i RUN the entire way (downhill thankfully) to the train station. (note: the ground was still slick from last night's soaking rains. awesome.)

so i run down the steps to the waiting train. i find a seat right away, closest to the middle doorway on the car. there is another man sitting in the furthest seat from me. need a visual? ok:

[man][ ][ me ]__door__

got it? lets move on. so 2 minutes or so pass and the conductor comes over the intercom and says "Due to some train delays ahead, this train will be leaving at 6:06am" So im like "this is my lucky day!" Ugh..so another 2 minutes pass and suddently this musty, dingy, grayhaired whino comes into the door im sitting next to, holding a brown bagged bottle of liquor and turns to the man sitting next to me and says "HEYYYYY" in his best Fonzi impersonation. so i think to myself, "this is gonna be an interesting day."

he then proceeds to turn around, kundi-facing me and the man, and backs up into the seat between us. i scooch over so close to the sidepanel of the seat and just continue to fret about the lateness of the train.

whino: [turns to the man] you dont think im gonna be quiet, do you? well i am.
man: [blank expression, silence]
whino: you dont believe me do you?
man: [silence]
whino: well youre right. [turns to me]
me: [as i feel his eyes burning into my left cheek, i think to myself, ok, i need to get up and find a new seat]
whino: [in a raspy, vile, and demon-sounding voice] you wanna get up and move, dont you?
me: [stands straight up and begins to walk away] YUP I DO!

the rest of the entire train ride into the city, he continues to harass people, most of whom just ignore him. i succeeded in not listening to most of what he said, but i did overhear him talk about his kundi, and he started to speak a strange jibberish language. and one lady was stupid enough to react to his harassment by calling him a "moron" repeatedly.

well that was fun! yet another reason to love nyc public transportation. but i did get to penn station before my train departed so it was all good.

EI vs. Manchester United
October 02, 2006
11:21 PM

don't ask me why, but i signed up to play for my company's soccer team. last friday was our first game and it was about 10 of us that went. id say about 4 out of the 10 actually played soccer at some point in their lives. i have no idea how to play soccer. sure, i know the rules and all that but the actual execution? not so much. this would prove to be very interesting.

so anyway, we get to chelsea piers and the captain of our opposing team that night comes up to us with his swanky British accent and goes "hullo chaps!" blahbitty blah.. "i used to play professionally". we're all like....what the crap did we just get ourselves into?!

cue his seven 6'11 teammates join the bench behind him. our faces sink...what we once thought was a winnable Division 3 league is now the finals of the World Cup. we had no chance.

so there were two 25 minute halves. by the end of the first half, the game was 11-1 them (but they had stop running the scoreboard because apparently it only went up to 11 goals per half. in reality, they were winning 15-1). second half, we would end up getting 6 more goals, but they would level off at 17. final score, 17-7. respectable? maybe, if they didnt give up defending as aggressively. :) but i will say that 5 or 6 of those goals were actually legimitate and pretty fierce.

my soccer skillz were unsurprisingly not as good as my nun-chuck skillz. i managed to get whistled on by the overzealous ref for a handball. (i was trying to protect myself!!) i managed to miss the empty net (the goalie came out to try to swipe the ball from me at the top right corner, but i walked through his tree trunk legs and missed the 10 foot wide goal.... thankfully a teammate was there to tap it into net.

Man. United were really nice blokes though, so we said cheers! and thanked them for the "good game" as only a true sportsman would do. and then we all walked home in defeat. and we get to do it all over again this friday at 11pm! yep, 11pm!

in the illustrious words of a coworker, "hmmmm". today was definetly a "hmmmm" day. it started off good. i got a seat on the train. i got to work in less than an hour.

the Wrong-Number Guy called AGAIN. (he called yesterday too and left me another replica voicemail). so today when i saw the phone ringing and i gave the phone to another one of my coworkers who is a pro at being abrupt to people on the phone heheh so im like YO Tell this guy he has the wrong number!! so she was like LISTEN you have the wrong number. no. no. this is NOT that number. these phone calls need to stop. what? no. no bye!. hahaha it was great. lets see if he calls again tomorrow. ok well that wasnt so hmmmm-y. but the rest of the day was. and i will leave the vagueness at that.

goodbye forever

HEY MCGEE
September 25, 2006
12:23 AM

for the last two weeks ive been getting a wrong-number call from this guy named steve. id say ive gotten about 5 voicemails from him. one time that i actually saw the number come up, i picked up and told him its the wrong number. im pretty sure he will call again tomorrow, so hopefully i can be like YO SUCKA i aint McGee. but this is literally how all 5 voicemails went:

*drunk sounding slurred new york accented voice*

hey mcgeee...uhhh its mesteve...i just thought id uhh u know, give you uhh call, see how things are going u know....just wanted to know how many appointments you got for the weekend cuz you know the weekend is uhhh u know when you can make the most money uhhhh so u know, lemme know if you need another appointment you know....uhhh yeah so i thought id give you a call to see how many appointments you have and uhh you know see how you're doing cuz i havent talked to you in a while u know...uhhh yeah sooo u know give me a call aight?? cuz you know id love to hear from you u know aight?? so yeah....uh, call me.. mmmbye.

WHAT THE CRAP? what kinda appointments!?! actually on a couple voicemails the word appointment was replaced with the word GIG... so im not sure if hes a musician or a drug dealer. ok but seriously, my voicemail clearly says YOU HAVE REACHED THE VOICEMAIL BOX OF *mickey mouse voice* "SHARON"... how could this guy NOT know i aint McGee??

actually, maybe i wont answer. i want to see how long it will take this guy to realize he has the wrong number. hahaha. im mean.

WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?

so you had to know that if i ever got around to making another entry, it would of course be accompanied by a new layout. tada. alas, my website skillz are stuck in the early 2000s so this is the best my laziness will produce. hate it or love it, atleast im talking to you losers. um so i dont remember the last thing i mentioned so i'll try to give you a nice update on the last couple of months:

work is good. work keeps me busy. you will be unable to reach me between 7:30am and 7:30pm because this is my "Work-Monster" operating hours and i am happily stuck in my zombie-like routine. if you're lucky to catch me at a good moment on AIM, consider yourself blessed. most of the time, i will tell you "im on a conference call" and either i am or i am not. but you'll never know. (i usually am though, so dont be mad at me). oh and today is the 5th month anniversary of my first day. high five.

diesel is fatter than ever - 8.6 pounds to be exact.(we just bought a new digital weighing scale for the house by the way...can you tell im excited?) he still pees a whole lot all over the house and especially in my room. he's been sleeping a lot lately, i think he's depressed. last night i asked him if he missed his mom and brother and sisters. he said yes. that kinda made me sad, the poor lil guy. i havent been a good sister to him. so i let him lick my face sometimes. thats love right thurr.

i went to the US Open and saw two mens matches in one night: Serena Williams v. Amelie Mauresmo & Lleyton Hewitt v. Richard Gasquet. Thats right. Amelie and Serena are the scariest woMEN ive ever seen in my life. i think i saw an oversized adams apple or two.

ooh. im finally getting around to finishing up my room renovation. we done did the painting and removing the nasty wood paneling. its blueeee in here. i wanted green, but unfortunately i cannot afford wood floors which would be the only way green would work in this room. (i have blue carpet). now the next step is to buy me some nice bedding and window treatments. ive been watching Trading Spaces again for some ideas..but im drawin a blank. i was really hoping to do a green color scheme so i think im just annoyed and dont want to really settle on blue stuff.

lately there has been some controversy on why i have a facebook account, a myspace account, and a friendster account. so let me set the record straight. i use all three to "investigate" as id like to say. i was trying to stay under the radar on myspace and facebook, but those darn malus..always find u!! geez. and then ppl are like why dont u take it down..well suckas, i aint gonna let u take away my information sources!!! why dont YOU stop coming to my page and sending me messages!!!! ok its really not that serious but i thought id mention it.

i cant believe its already september. where did the summer go? i feel like i didnt do anything this year. except get fat again and lose my volleyball tournament. doing well, doing well. aight i think thats all i gots to say for now. leave me harassing comments as you know i enjoy.

goodbye forever.

i am a walking disaster
August 09, 2006
11:18 AM

when i first started talking the train in to work in 2004, i would stay awake the entire hour cuz i was nervous and didnt want to miss my stop. but now that im such a pro (ha ha), i fall asleep right after i read a couple Bible chapters and pray. so i get about 45 minutes of irritable sleep. irritable because im constantly falling forward and to the side and since im still semi-conscious, i sometimes feel my neck turn slightly. i cant describe it, but i always open my eyes after i do this and think "man, the people around me who are watching me must be getting a good laugh" and then i fall back asleep cuz i really couldnt care less how dumb i look i just need my extra 45 minutes of shut-eye dangit. and then when i get off at 53rd, my contacts are all dry and of course the passing trains blow hot air and dust all around which makes my eyes worse and then im rubbing my eyes the entire 3 minutes it takes for the 100 step escalator to reach the top where i am greeted by a gust of cold air that sweeps across the huge waterfall just outside and gives me goosebumps.
i do this same routine everyday. every. day.

so i think i mentioned before that i've gotten all five of my cavities filled. my root canal is scheduled for the end of august. i just went to the doctor the other day and he diagnosed what i thought was an ulcer as "H. Pylori" which is a bacterial infection of the stomach lining - it IS SEASONAL like i had told many people and they still called me crazy...and it is NOT CAUSED BY EATING SPICY FOOD but possibly by contaminated water or food - and it could lead to peptic ulcers but in most cases this does not happen. i still need to get my blood test done for cholesterol and all that, so i shall be returning to the doc very soon. my level was normal last year, so im hoping i have the all clear to eat cheese. cuz i loves me my cheese. when i go to wedding cocktail hours, i get really excited when they have a really good cheese spread. its the simple things in life, suckas...

also, my doctor said im 5'2" WOOHOO!! eat it all you short-joke-sters! and and and...he said im fat. hahahahahah. he was like ok "dont gain a single pound" HAHAHAHAHAH. good thing im not sensitive about things like that :O( hahahaha. so yeah i told him im tryin to get back down to 110 and he said "yah this is good". oh by the way he is a malu doc and he is a fobber.

ive been giving requests on topics to write about: diesel & volleyball:

diesel is such a good boy. i love him more than i love cheese. he has taken ownership of my huge Yankee fleece blanket as his new bed for when he is in my room. its so cute, he will run into the room, see the blanket on the floor and flop down on it into a ball and go to sleep. but he betta watch out cuz thats the blankie i use in the winter to keep me warm! shoooot. he's gotten the hang of waiting for me to take him out in the morning to do his business. and luckily in the last week or so, i havent SEEN/SMELLED him pee inside the house...but then again, ive been at:

volleyball practice - going well. i think there's 4 teams this year so the tourney is gonna be longer than what we're used to. we'll see what happens though and i'll let you know who wins. hopefully its us. :) shirlz, im not really sure what u want me to say about vball..other than that im the new 2nd setter and i hop like a bunny rabbit.

in conclusion....im a big fan of Free Pizza Wednesdays. sure, we just had our first and probly last one. but still, im a fan.

updates and stuff

- quitting candy cold turkey is HARD! especially when i have my first of three dentist appointments tomorrow. ive been candy-free for 11 days. (Hi, my name is Sharon and I'm a candy addict.)

- diesel got neutered last week and is recovering. he's a good boy and this week, since my bro is in Dallas, ive been taking care of diesel on my own so he's been giving me extra attention. his pavum face kills me every time...i scold him and then give him a hug and ummas....best part, his barking has been cut down from 100% of the time to about 2% of the time...i hope it stays this way!!

- saturday was sports day (basketball) and it wasnt as great as previous years. of course, i couldnt have cared less who won, but it was fun to sit around and cheer for random people. i also got suckered into doing the free throw contest with a bunch of my friends. all my practice shots..id say about 98% went in. and of course, when it came down to it, i choked and came in third place (out of 5). oh well. it was still fun and i may do it next year...i want to win something in my life!! sheesh.

- on the subway this morning, a guy fell completely over onto a lady that was sitting down. the guy looked like he had something wrong with his leg, but still...it was funny but sad but funny. everybody was okay though. so it was alright to laugh. i just chuckled again.

- rockfest-ny is postponed til later. visit www.rockfest-ny.com for more details

- heat wave this week in new york. woohoo!! and that aint a sarcastic woohoo!! we've had so much rain, im accepting this nasty humid heat with open arms (and sweaty armpits!! mmmm!!)

and on the note of that lovely imagery, more to come..

so that community outreach thing was a letdown. we got to Union Square Park and met up with the City Harvest rep and he gave us some brown shopping bags to give out to the farmers market vendors to put their leftover goods in for donation. so once we handed the bags out, we sat in the park for 45 minutes. when we went back to collect the bags, only one vendor was ready. the rest either "didn't have anything left to donate" or "close after 7pm so they will drop off the stuff to the City Harvest truck later". very uneventful id say! i still want to do a walk/run for cancer or something.

i just realized i have barely talked about volleyball! its going great so far...i wouldnt have thought id be on a team this year...but here i am, practicing 3 times a week! woohoo!! i still suck, but i love it. PCNAK 2007 Florida here we come!

ok bye.

kinney: hahaha
kinney: grammatically i was though
sharon: yeah but thats ok, everyone needs a flaw
sharon: so i thought you werent allowed online?

sharon: oh i know, i'll find something.
sharon: ok so im telling this lady you are a scrub
kinney: lol
sharon: What I meant was that my friend may not be qualified for the Senior DBA Administrator position so he was curious if they would interview him for a Junior position. He has an SQL and Oracle
background.

the other day i was coming off the Cross Island making the left onto Hillside Ave. and theres a whole bunch of traffic clogging up the intersection.... which eventually reveals itself to be caused by a police van blocking the middle lane and a black dodge in the right lane. all the cops are out of their van and i look to the right towards the highway overpass railing and i see 6 karembens lined up on their knees....ALL HANDCUFFED...what the heck!!!! this is Floral Park! sooo random.

today on the way to church it was me and alex in the car cuz we had to open up the building early. so as we pull up to the curb we see an old lady walking....her CAT.....on a 10ft LEASH...hahahaha who walks their CAT????? and on a LEASH????

ohh nickkity nicky nick lachey....how i hope your star rises so that jessica feels dumber than usual...her and her weirdo dad....crazy how money & fame changes people.

anyyyway...i really dont think i should keep this site anymore..its a waste of $120 each year...and youre definetly not getting your money's worth of entertainment here. we'll see.

um me and shanny had lunch with the scs crew (chan, badabEng, kinney, and val) today at the manhattan mall...that was interesting..just deciding on a place and a time was a task in itself....this is why guys should never be asked to make arrangements!!! one was complaining about eating lunch "too early", one said he'd said to have lunch around 12-1...thinking it meant we'd start eating sometime in between there...but who says that??? if you say 12-1 that means from twelve to one, YES? sheesh :-p bunch of cry babies!!!!! hahah good thing they'll never read this. but if you do, eat it!!! jk...it was fun..

uh...diesel broke a tooth the other day...he was in my room and he had gotten under the bed and i heard him crunch on something metal...few minutes later he came out and grabbed onto one of my socks and ran around with it a bit. 5 minutes later i picked up the sock and there was blood all over it..we grabbed him, opened his mouth and saw the bloody gums...poor lil guy....what a trooper, didnt even whimper. maybe he really IS "diesel!"

i was sick this whole past week...crazy...im proud of myself for making it through work every single day..barely..high five!!!

played some volleyball a bit last sunday night...oh how i miss the 5 hour daily practices...definetly wont be doing that anymore though..i get home by 730 everyday anyway...

life is a highway. i wanna ride it all night loooong.

goodnight!

It's past my bedtime
June 05, 2006
11:39 PM

but before i go, a few things:

- i saw the Da Vinci code. it was ok, for a movie thats theologically inaccurate and blashpemous. tom hanks wasnt as bad as the Professor as i thought he'd be. my favorite french actress was in it though (Audrey Tateau aka AMELIE), so that was nice!

- paveka's bridal shower was on saturday. i was THIS close to winning a prize. woulda been my first. the game was to catch other ppl saying either "Cecil" or "Wedding" and then you could claim the plastic string around their neck. i had 6, the winner had 7. grr! if only Kenny would admit she said "Ceci..." i would have atleast tied. oh well.

- i scratched up the black finish on my guitar real nice. with a light blue pick. so now it looks like a zebra. i am an idiot. i am also very bummed.

- volleyball is coming. can you smeeeeeellll the sweat???? i can!!! weeeehoooo.

- i eat a box of Mike & Ike and a bag of Sour Patch kids at work every other day. this is probably one reason why i need a root canal now.

- marty sampson is engaged to his longtime gf!!! :)

- i love the sense of accomplishment i feel when i come in to work and theres 50 emails in my inbox of things i need to finish and by EOD i have like 2 emails left in my inbox, and theyre saying "thanks!" for such and such.

- bye.

<> NOW MY IPOD ISNT WORKING. the idiots at GeniusBar are gonna be hearing from me!!! GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

Why cant it be called Canada Wet instead of Canada Dry?
May 31, 2006
11:54 AM

hi everyone. ive decided to make an update since a lot of people (or just Champ) has been asking me to. so here's a rundown [unsequentially of course] of what i can remember has happened in the last 2 weeks:

- i went to Delaware for a business meeting. the very next day, Amtrak had a fire on the tracks. so glad i wasnt stuck on a train all day.

- i got a flat tire yesterday on the way home on GCPkway..1 exit from my house. while im waiting for my brother to come fix my tire (in theory i know how to change a tire. but will i actually attempt it? psshh ..who u think i is?) this guy pulls over to help me...and as he gets out of his car...he assembles his WHEELCHAIR and rolls over to me and is like do u need a cellphone? im like nah my bro's on his way but thank you so much, God bless you. and hes like cool i'll just stick around til your bro gets here. so he rolls (is that politically incorrect to say??)...wheeels??? himself towards his car and as he does another guy pulls over thinking the Wheelchair Guy needs assistance but Wheelchair Guy is like nah i pulled over to see if she needed help. oh my goodness i was like...who's gonna pull over next, the Pope???? hahah but yeah i hope Wheelchair Guy gets a double blessing for being that nice.

- i went to the OLS carnival on sunday night with shane and kenny and we finally got shane to go on her first "rollercoaster", the Zipper. unfortunately that thing isnt as fun as it was when i was younger and less arthritic and old. we both got headaches from it, but it wasnt scary at all. Shane almost crapped her pants though. wat a baby :-p

- benjin & nancy's wedding was a lot of fun. pictures are up on fotki.

- we had a bbq at my house Monday night with both sets of cuzins and shane/kenny. i made fun of them. they made fun of me. good times. good times. pictures are also up on fotki.

- i need a root canal. self diagnosed based upon the shooting pains i get when i accidentally chew on the wrong side of my mouf.

- diesel will be 4 months old on Tuesday!! hes getting soooo much better at thooring and peeing outside and he barely barks in the mornings anymore. he is my kuttapa. for all of you peoople who have yet to meet him, you better hurry! he wont be this small forever!

- i got my cube nameplate yesterday at work. im official!

ok thats all i can think of for now.

dear Jesus,

why didnt you invent more hours in the day? id like to put in a request to have several hours added on. like say, 10 more. please let me know when this is ready. p.s. could you possibly also arrange for the Yankees to win the Series this year? im kinda tired of cheering on a crappy team.

thanks,
sharon

Just One o' Dem Days
May 12, 2006
06:58 PM

could anything else bad happen to me today? and i know imma regret sayin that cuz something worse is bound to happen to me today:

like i mentioned in my previous post, i had to wear khakis to work today. yeah well great...today happened to be POURING RAIN. | no time to iron my pants or my company shirt b/c the iron is mysteriously missing from my room. | my dad's car was blocking my car in the driveway, making me later than i already was. | i forgot to take a scrunchee with me to tie my hair up so it wouldnt get frizzy from the rain. | i left my metrocard in the pocket of the pants i wore yesterday. which were now hanging in my closet at home. | 2 traffic lights were not working on Hillside this morning. | i got sprayed with dirty water by a car passing too close to the sidewalk by 179th. thanks, idiot. | and i missed the E train this morning.

Radio Frequency Identification
May 11, 2006
09:55 PM

ok, so the end of the world is approaching faster than i thought! back in my final year of undergrad and also sometime in my Masters program, i did a couple of research papers on RFID. for a group assignment in my Systems Analysis class, we redesigned the school's ID card system to include RFID chips. I happened to also do a case study on Wal-mart, who was the largest retailer to begin using RFID tracking in all of their apparel. There were many reasons for this type of tracking to be introduced into the retail market, which i wont go into because you can google it yourself.

but ive never actually seen an RFID chip up close and personal, until today that is. so...long story short, i had to buy a pair of GAP khakis for work tomorrow, so i went to the store after work tonight. im about to iron the pants for tomorrow when i see this large white cloth square tag sewn to the inside hem, but it definetly wasnt the label tag. it said "Remove Before Washing or Wearing".

within 2 seconds im like....DUDE THIS IS AN RFID TRACKER!!!!!! my geeky side was all a-flutter. so of course, i took the tag off the pants and cut it open to reveal...toot tooot toot toooot (that was a trumpet btw) my very first RFID chip!!!! weehoo!! its pretty cool...and i SWEAR. i promise....I PINKY PROMISE.....RIGHT before i made the last cut to reveal the flimsy pastic chip inside, it might a little noise..like it was dying....I PROMISE....a noise that reminded me of how in Mission Impossible, the message to Tom Cruise would "self-destruct in three seconds"..

dude...im saving this forever!!!! forever ever.

waking up at 5:30am to take the dog to do his business and then going to work has definetly taken a toll on my sleep. there is a definite lackage. but Diesel (i dont want to jinx it but i'll say it...) is slowly showing signs of understanding that his bathroom is outside, not his little play area. hes slowly understanding that when he's in the crate, its time to be quiet. (he's mastered this at night, but still unhappy with being locked in during the day).

hes gotten so big...he's also very fat. we cut down his meals to twice a day..but he's still bigger than Biggie. i have a sneaking suspicion that my dad spoils him during the day and feeds him too much. my dad definetly has taken a liking to the filthy beast.

the following puppy video clips were filmed for your wiewing pleasure. please disregard the hyena/mickey mouse voiced person in the background. that is me. i am retarded. and i am also the one filming, so its really loud. you might want to turn down your speakers. enjoy.

okay, if you havent figured it out from the comments on the tagboard already, you are dumb. i have a puppy named Diesel. he's naughty and poops inconsistently and pees everywhere but he's slowly learning to be less of a terror. i love him already. ive gotten a bunch of solicited and unsolicited dog training advice from so many people and everyone says something different for the most part. having a puppy is definetly A LOT of work...which i knew going into this situation...but its still hopefully gonna have a good payoff later on down the road when he is fully housebroken and doesnt keep biting my pants. on the brighter side of this, i no longer waste my time on the net or spend countless hours watching Full House reruns (its just limited to 30 minutes or so now). instead, my schedule consists of sleep. eat. play with Diesel. sleep. eat. wipe up Diesel's crap. sleep.

in other news, i start work on Monday. i am very excited to get back to the working world. and im especially thankful to get to work in Manhattan...it shall once again become my playground! ah, i cant wait to see homeless people on the subway, to smell urine eminating from sidewalks, to see rats and yellow cabbies almost running over people...woohoo!!!! but seriously..i really am excited..I pray that I kick butt at my job and get to make some great new friends while im there.

anyhoo, i finally put up the link to the Hillsong United videos, on the right column. thanks to Bear who smushed all the clips together, cuz i didnt have the time to figure out how to use Adobe Premiere. by the way Bear..its HILLSONG United, not hillsongS. you shtepid indian! dont you EVER say ur a fan of them or that ur going to see them in Australia. i will beat you with a shoe!!!! i am the ONE AND ONLY true fan. yeaah.. ok ok ok.

hmm.. ok i think im a lil behind track in my daily schedule..according to the list, i should be sleeping right now. so i think i shall do that. hopefully i'll get to update more often..and i'll try my best to come up with more entertaining material. but until then, you must read crappy entries like this.

paaaaaaayce!

United We Stand
April 07, 2006
01:27 PM

weeeeeeee! im still charged up from the concert last night. oh my goodness, to say it was amazing is an understatement. forget the fact that it was Marty & Joel. forget that ive never jumped around that much at a show before. what a powerful time of WORSHIP. it was surreal to be singing the songs we sing every sunday in church with the people who WROTE the songs. good stuff man, good stuff! ok so now on to the details. im gonna refrain from writing in paragraph form because i tend to forget what i was gonna say when i do that. this was the most exciting 2 hours of worship. ever. all 4 of us were dripping with sweat at the end of the night.

we got the best possible floor seats because we arrived at the place 3 hours before doors opened. luckily, there were only 50 or so kunnadachis ahead of us. darn them! DARN THEM!!

i officially love the australian accent soooo much more than the british accent. this is Luke Webb, their road manager, asking all the stage bumrushers to move back away from the barracades. he was way nicer than the old lady yelling at everyone and tellin them the Holy Spirit was being quenched because they rushed the stage. she should definetly get a 2nd job as a Malu pastor.

this is a picture of a picture that a girl took of Marty's back when he came out for a second to grab his guitar case. i did not get to meet Marty b/c he was too cool. or maybe he had to go to the bathroom really bad. who knows, but he never came out. its ok, he's still my favorite Hillsonger.

this is Jonathan Douglas aka JD. he goes crazy on stage! so crazy, that he accidentally broke his youth pastor's leg in two places during the show the night before. Phil came out in a wheelchair! haha awww...but JD definetly is my inspiration for jumpin around :)

kenny and i were NEXT on line for a picture with Joel Houston and then the Event Staff ppl said they had to go and started pushing Joel and the other guys away from us. BOOOO!!! Joel looked and me and told me he was sorry. whatever dude!!!! go cut ur hair!!! just kidding. he really is hairy though.

i got another drumstick to add to my collection....which is now a whopping 2 stix!! (the other one is from Jars of CLay) woo hoo! the drummer, who is new and i dont know his name...Case?? CHase?? yeah well he gets a gold sticker from me cuz hes way too nice!!

- the setlist was as follows, but definetly not in this order:

Salvation is Here
Tell The World
Look To You
All I Need Is You
Shout Unto God
There Is Nothing Like
What The World Will Never Take
Til I See You
One Way
Take All Of Me
Where The Love Lasts Forever
All Day
The Time Has Come
Take It All
From God Above
From The Inside Out
Came To The Rescue
The Stand
*Happy Birthday (to MikeY)

[I'm not sure if they sang the following songs live because
we listened to all 3 United CD's in the car going to and coming
from the show so i cant remember..but they sound familiar..haha]
Fire Fall Down
Revolution
No One Like You

[For more pictures, check out my fotki.
Video clips will be up on this site shortly,
most likely on the right column ---->]

im moving to australia. forever. bye!

Thank You, I'll Be Here All Weekend
April 03, 2006
01:35 AM

as one of the worship leaders and guitarist at church, ive had my share of embarassing moments. actually ive had enough to last me the rest of my life. today was no different.

my guitar strap completely rips away from the leather cord thats holding the guitar in place. good thing i had my hand on the neck of the guitar, otherwise it would have fallen to the floor. now, this doesnt sound so funny. well, the funny part is that i was in the middle of playing our 2nd song,Worthy Is The Lamb,...ON STAGE...during worship. hahaha! so im just like uhh...and kenny & shane finish up the last two lines (thank God we were just about to end the song) and i gesture to kenny to just end it. everyone was so confused. so instead of finishing up our set, i just put my guitar down and run back to my seat. hahah, it was priceless!

there's been other times when ive forgotten words to songs, started playing the wrong key for a song, mysteriously forgotten how to sing in the key of D (the key we sing MOST songs in at our church), broken strings, dropped the pick twice in a row, banged my nose into the mic, dropped music sheets to the floor, the list goes on and on.

let's also not forget the time when a certain two visitors (both of which play guitar so much better than i do) came to our church to hand out an upcoming event's flyers right when our worship is going on. i open my eyes and i see them standing in the back and i go into shock...not knowing whether im havin a nightmare or if its real..and still tryin to play the right chords for the song...

at this point, theres really nothing that can embarass me anymore. i think thats why ive gotten pretty good at being "funny" when im giving presentations at school, or in a public gathering, etc. i just make fun of myself, wait for everyone to laugh at me, and then get down to bidniz.

stay fly,
sharon

Things I'm Excited About
April 02, 2006
01:58 AM

im really hyper. because of stuff. here's some things im excited about!

+ Hillsong United concert, nucka!
+ puppy! (which i havent mentioned yet. im getting a dog. holler!)
+ work! i start my boring adult life!
+ Kate just taught ME what the heck a podcast was, and more importantly that they are free and i can get them from iTunes and they automatically update every time you connect! WEEEE! kate is cool.
+ I just got an exclusive sneak-peak at the yet to be released Hillsong United album, United We Stand. upon first listening, i have made two conclusions: one - there is a definite lacking of Marty Sampson led songs. boo. two - the songs arent that great upon initial listening. obviously, i will burn this onto cd and play it over and over in my car until the official album/DVD is released in stores. shoot, i gotta be singin these songs word for word come Thursday to impress Marty, who you think i is son???

im retarded,
sharon

Welcome to Curry Park
March 30, 2006
02:37 PM

this september, i will have lived in my town of Floral Park (Queens side not Nassau County, thank you very much) for 20 years. Twenty. That's long before 99% of the other indians who now live here ever rolled through. Long before there was Patel Brothers, House of Dipali, Taj Groceries, and any other indian 'bodega' type store ever existed. in all those 20 years, ive never wanted to move because i loved the pseudo-suburban atmoshphere (mix police sirens & neighbor shouting matches with crickets chirping and the wind blowing and you get pseudo-suburban).

ive never wanted to move, that is, until yesterday. i was coming up the block where Joe's Pizzeria is and i had my sunroof open to get some air. but i was wearing a thick brown sweater (im still tryin to adjust to the warm weather we've got goin on) so i decide to roll down both front windows. the MINUTE i do, the unmistakeable REEKING combined STENCH of indian food/sweets/and uncles' body odor ATTACKS my olfactory neurons and my body, in turn, begins to convulse and dry heave. i quickly closed my windows AND sunroof and decided id much rather die from heat exhaustion than suffocating from lack of fresh air. shtepid indians!! up til this point, the lingering odor thinned out around Pizza Hut/Little Neck and then picked back up again past 260th. now its invaded and infested the surrounding streets of my abode. its days like these i wish our ancestors didnt find all those spices out in the jungles of Kerala. darnit, its days like this i wish our culture ate bland food! blasphemy, i know. indian food is among my top three favorites, alas, its odor could singe your nosehairs. well i guess, if you're an malu uncle, you probably could use a trimming anyway.

yours asthmatically,
sharon

something is wrong with me
March 25, 2006
01:25 AM

but i dont know what. yeah yeah, ive got mental issues, ha ha. but seriously...maybe you can help me figure out whats wrong. ive seen the symptoms for a long time now. they've been accumulating over the years, but i dont know whether this state im in is good or bad and more importantly, im not sure its leading to a good or bad place either. the major issue at hand is that ive lost my appreciation and fascination with many things that once gave me meaning, enjoyment, and occupied my time & energy. lets see some examples.

. growing up with two older brothers, i was an out and out tomboy. with this came the fervent love of sports, basketball and baseball primarily. i could name any and all pro & some college bball players (even back when it was mostly white guys runnin around...) and coaches. i would sit and watch entire yankee games from start to finish, even if it was the lowest scoring game in team history. sometimes id even wait for a rain delay to end so i could cheer the guys on. now? i can still name ballers (the old school ones. pretty much the only new school kats i know are lebron...and..yeah thats about it.) but i couldnt even tell you the last time i willingly watched a game. yankees? havent followed their seasons since 2003.

. i no longer care to obsess over switchfoot. when i tell people i think their new album sucks and have only listened to it twice (literally..and not even all the way thru), they *gasP* in horror. when i tell them i didnt go to the last 3 switchfoot NYC shows and dont plan on going to the one in jersey, they scream in terror. when i cancelled my ownership of ilikeswitchfoot.com and basically told kate and jonny that they were on their own to do as they pleased with the site, the two of them cried. (ok maybe not. but id like to imagine they did.) i once prided myself on the fact that "i touched jerome's leg". i havent been on their messageboard in a good 2 years, id say. maybe longer. when Stan M. says "what up switchfoot prez?" i cringe in disgust and quickly deny ever being involved with them in a presidential manner.

. i deleted a whole bunch of screen names from my buddy list of ppl i talk to now and then. the thing is, ive had some of those names since i first got the internet in 1998. i used to be a pack-rat with those names. now i could care less. sometimes the people whose names i deleted IM me and for a moment im like "oh, maybe i shouldnt have deleted them afterall." but then im like eh who cares, if they want to talk to me, they will. some of those ppl may be reading this entry. and they were people i spoke to almost every day a couple years ago. im starting to feel bad about this...but i guarantee i wont do anythin about it.

. speaking of rat-packing...in the last year, ive thrown out almost everything ive ever kept from my childhood through college years. from cute baby clothes, to toys, to pictures i drew, papers i wrote, books i used to love to read, and textbooks i never read but paid good money for (but were no longer being sold in the college bookstore...idiots). the only things i have kept are ticket stubs, cards, letters, and yearbooks. the rest is sitting underneath other crap on a hill in Staten Island.

. in the last year, ive been through a lot personally. a lot of growing up and moving on. its been a good time of healing. i should have been really sad and depressed about a couple things..but thankfully, ive been really okay with everything. i cant say that im sad about anything at the moment. another issue.. people i know are getting married left and right but im content in waiting! even when people bother me about it (read: my parents). arent i supposed to be wallowing? probably, but im soooo finnneee with it. in addition, things on the career end are looking up. the rest of my life is about to start and im neither yay! nor blah. i am anxious to see how it all unfolds though.

so yeah. i dont know whats wrong with me. i used to be so accustomed to feeling extreme emotions of sadness or joy. now im kinda in the middle right. is this normal? your twenties are supposed to be when you figure out who you really are. im not quite sure ive finished my self-realization. i dont even feel like ive done much "figuring out" to begin with. maybe thats what all the above-mentioned stuff has been about? but then...what have i replaced those things with? i dunno...

ok this has been a deep topic (compared to my usual writing, of course)...so i will end with this: i made chocolate jello pudding earlier, and it tasted really good. unfortunately, i made the jello so i could kill the taste of the store-brand thai noodles i made. that didnt taste so great.

stay fly, (or for the MBA-ized version: until the next quarter's report,)

Texan Adventures
March 19, 2006
10:31 AM

what it do my peoples!? your one and only source of entertainment has returned to the good ol NYC. three weeks of southern living has definetly reminded me of what I love about new york - sarcastic people, dirty streets, and anythin other than Tex-Mex food! ah its good to be home! :) i will admit, despite the monotonous surroundings, it was still fun hanging out with errybody and not having much responsibility for three weeks. so what exactly IS there to do in texas? well here's a glimpse of my activities over the last 22 days:

Week One

I got to test drive the IS 350! Sweet ride. The best part is the interior...i love the cool functions and features that Lexus provides. Plus, bluetooth!!!! Later on (in Week 3) i would test drive the G35 which looks so beautiful from the outside, but the interior doesnt compare to the IS and also, theres absolutely no trunk space. Oddly enough, theres more backseat room in the G35 coupe than there is in the IS 350 sedan. So basically even though i love my G35 black on black coupe...if i were to dish out $35k for a car in the near future, i'd get the IS. Now if only the IS and G35 had a baby that looked like the G35 but had the inner beauty of the IS, hollerrr!!!

The rest of the week consisted of eating, sleeping, and watchin tv (while everyone was at work). I survived the boredom, but apparently Mr. Geico over here didnt. Poor guy! I also went Mini-Golfing for the first time! That was cool, especially since it was an actual mini golf course and not a putt-putt with those windmills and clown faces, etc. For my first time playing, I think i did pretty well. I only lost by 5 strokes. Of course, there was plenty of cheating and redo-ing involved. But thats okay! On Sunday, I attended church at Bina's dad's church and afterwards, we went to Anoop & Anisha's house for lunch.

Week Two

The Fun begins! This week we went to Main Event to play Lasertag, guys vs. girls plus a few kalus thrown in the mix. the kalus kept shooting random people and were mostly concerned about each other's well being against us "indians"....so the girls lost. yeah. thats the only reason we lost OK! On Friday we took a road trip up to Oklahoma to visit friends and family. I finally got to see Shirley & Vinson's new house and new puppy Romeo. But most importantly i got to play volleyball for three hours!!!!!!! with the OKC team. Definetly the highlight of my trip! :-p Those girls were really good, i think they can take Canada this year at conference. Practicing with the team made me miss practicing 5 hours each night...the weather is getting warmer in NY now so hopefully i'll be scraping up my knees on pavement soon. A certain volleyball asst coach will be receiving threatening text messages if pickup games dont start soon. who cares if hes getting married in less than 2 months, this is more important!!!!

Anyway, on Sunday we attended service at Victory Church. Towards the end of the service, they gave a general altar call and asked people to raise their hands if they wanted a renewing or recommitement or something like that, so a lot of ppl raised their hands. Including my brother. ok, no big deal. so as we're standing there, this usher comes RIGHT up to our row and looks at bencha and he's like "Come, lets go up to the front". Time stood still it seemed like... we were all thinking "huh?" cuz there werent ANY other ushers asking ANYONE else in the huge church to go up to the front. this guy came right up to bencha and bencha smiled and was like "no its ok thanks." but then the guy's like COME ON....so then bencha just looks at me betsy and bina and we all just look down cuz we dont know what to do and are trying not to crack up laughing.

i thought bencha would be like "i would come up, but we're leaving soon and i dont want to get seperated" or SOMETHING to that extent. but the look on his face...hahahaha... so he realizes he has no choice but to go with this guy....and us 3 girls just stand there tryin not to crack up. so now comes the best part. this is a HUGE american church, that rebroadcasts its service on TBN 6 times a week, so they have cameras and projection screens everywhere. they show bencha being led up to the front and out to a prayer room by 2 muscle-y ushers on the projection screens!!!! he had this confused and scared look on his face and as he walked he kept lookin back at the ushers to see if they were still there..it was like he was a suspected terrorist being escorted out of the room....hahahaha it was priceless...everybody started clapping as if he had just converted hahahaha....i wish i had taken my camera out to snap a picture of the screen.

Week Three

My last week was probably the best: i got to go bowling! my score was sub-par though. boo. um....i went to Six Flags Over Texas. (Which is right next to Arlington, where this year's national conference will be held). not as good as Great Adventure here in Jersey though. We visted the Botannical Gardens where we took plenty of fobby pictures next to flowers and shrubs. I will refrain from posting those here. And no, they will not be used for proposal pictures. Jerkfaces! So basically it wasnt as boring as I thought a three week stay in Dallas would be. Thanks to everyone who took days off and time out to chill wit me and for buying me food to make me fat.

Lincy & Moni's engagement was yesterday...she looked beautiful and he didnt look as funny as I thought a short guy would look in a nehru suit thingy. Right afterwards, I went to Juliemama's baby shower...its most likely a girl!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!! Finally, a girl in that testosterone-filled family. I got to see a bunch of people I used to have lunch with when I worked at Canon a few years back.

Now for the biggest news yet. HILLSONG IS COMING TO NEW JERSEY ON APRIL 6TH. EVEN BETTER...IM GOING!!!!!!! Marty Sampson better watch out...I will definetly be stalking him and if i dont get a picture with him (and his email address, screenname, phone number, house address, favorite color, food, and hobbies), I will go kung fu on everyone in my path.

stay fly,
sharon

Random Weekend Thoughts
February 19, 2006
11:56 PM

what a difference a week makes. this time last week, I was holed up inside hiding from 26" of snow. thankfully the sun was out all week and melted most of the stuff away. i cant wait for warm weather again. im done with the cold weather for this year, thanks!

friday night was Kenny's 21st birthday..i was calling this place in Westbury called Spasso all day friday to make reservations and Jillians as well but there was no answer at either place. i came to find out later on that some phone lines went down in that area. which of course would only happen on Kenny's birthday. so we drive to Spasso that night and....its closed down! cafe formaggio apparently will be the new restaurant there. again, only this kind of luck would befit a Kenyan birthday. but it was still fun. we wanted to play pool but there was a waiting line for that at Jillians. i was THIS close to satiate my desire for bowling...alas, there was a waiting line for that too dangit.

but happy news! i get to go bowling....in Dallas! im leaving this tuesday and there will be plenty of bowling or else i'll throw a tantrum. i'll be chillin with my fam and friends down there for a lil while, which should be lots of fun. dont miss me too much guys. i know its shockin news, but i think you can survive without me for a bit.

oh yeah..i had this weird dream the other night. i usually have dreamless sleep but there'll be a few weeks every-so-often when i'll dream these wacky dreams each night. so in this one dream, ive been asked to be a radio DJ at hofstra's radio WHRU. im in the studio or whatever and i really cant see any faces but someone hands me the program schedule and i see my name on there for the 12pm-4pm time slot and all im thinking is. "what!? its my FIRST day! i cant talk for 4 hours! what do i say? wait..crap...whats my on air name? DJ AM? no thats taken! DJ Skribble? taken! DJ Jazzy Jeff..aaah!!" and then i see that im supposed to be interviewing this person (who i cant remember right now) but i remember that it was someone who i knew nothing about and wouldnt know what to ask them. and then i was practicing my radio voice. and most of you know i hate my mickey mouse sounding voice so i tried to sound all deep but it wasnt working and then i woke up. hahah this was so random! maybe im subconciously thinkin i need to reevaluate my career choice? i definetly have a face for radio :-p

i went to CVS the other day to buy my mom some random thing she saw on sale in the circular (my mom will buy like... 3 cans of Comet cleaner for 99cents from one store and then send me to like...Lakeville Pharmacy to buy a box of Kleenex for 99cents..why cant u jus buy it all from one place!?! ur wasting gas money drivin to each store anyway!)...but anyway when i went there i saw somethin that stopped me dead in my tracks. they REDID the entire store layout and specifically the hair products/face creams/cosmetics aisles. i seriously broke into a big grin! i didnt have time to that day, but i vowed to return and just browse the aisles. i seriously am one of those girls who LOVE products. not that i need any of them, but i'll just love to try new creams or scrubs, or whatever. i literally take joy in bringing home a new product, opening (and saving) the packaging cuz its just so pretty! see, im not a high maintenance girl. louis vuitton bag? nah. manolo blahnik shoes? ehh. all i need is to be left for an hour in an aisle of haircare products and im content. :)

i went to a bridal shower on saturday...it was literally 7 hours long! but it was so much fun..with like 40 girls. crazy. we played this memory icebreaker game where we had to remember each person's name and their favorite thing...and i was able to remember all 30 or so ppl before me. so EAT IT sherine, i DID get my memory back! :-p

i really noticed though that after a while...i needed to escape the estrogen. i really cant be around girls for an extended period of time. i really felt like i needed a fix of ESPN or something. i guess i should blame it on growing up with two brothers. but even in school and everywhere else, i always got along with guys better than girls. i only have so much patience for frilly stuff and giggling and saying "awwww how CUUUTE" a million times. 7 hours of it definetly was overkill! so Kenny, im still a tomboy at heart. you havent lost your buddy afterall!

alright, i think i'll go take care of stuph now. have a great time without me! and i'll most likely be at the apartment during the days, so i may write an entry soon. take care and God bless!

hollerrrrrr,
sharon

My Ex-Favorite TV show, and other stuff
February 11, 2006
12:29 AM

first, the other stuff.

on the eve of a blizzard, the first one of the year and the first of the season, i move around my warm & cozy bedroom putting away the clothes and things ive thrown around over the course of the day, while listening to a bootleg demo of Ashley Parker Angel's cheesy yet catchy ditty, Soundtrack To Your Life. i also found another song of his (well, i THINK its him singing...it sounds girly enough), Invisible Life which kinda has a religious undertone to it but i havent been able to find lyrics online but whatever the case, its still satisfying my current need for pop crap music. for those of you who dont know who APA is, he's the blonde dude from the deceased O-town boy band. he's got a show on MTV that tracks his comeback from losing all his fame to now - recording a solo album and becoming a daddy. to a boy named Lyric. just when i give the guy SOME credibility, he goes and names his kid Lyric. why dont these celebrity parents realize the horrific childhoods they are guaranteeing their offspring with these dumb names? ahem... Apple...Tallulah....Jet....

anyway. i digress. hmm.. wait. what did i digress from? i dont think i had a point. yeah so im just in my room cleaning. thats about it. i want it to snow. but i dont want it to. my dad's in sunny FL and i wish i could be there too...the lucky ducky. you would think he'd be done with Conference stuff now..but nope. ah well. i may be taking a "vacation" soon....more details if and when that chance presents itself.

ok. so some of you may remember i used to love ALIAS...but then season 3 sucked and it was kinda downhill from there. then this season, 5, i lost interest after episode 1 because THEY KILLED VAUGHN....my one reason for watching... and eventually stopped watching altogether because the writing sucked immeasurably. (and there was still no sign of ImStillAlive! Vaughn). so fast forward to about 2 months ago. ABC announces its cancelling ALIAS, and what do Kenny (sherene) and i do? cry? nope! we cheered. cuz jen garner deserves to have all her shows and movies fail. cuz she dumped Michael Vartan (who plays Vaughn) in real life. yes, im bitter. lalala. so anyway....the last 10 episodes of the season, starting in March...i will definetly be watching because theyre bringing back all the good characters! including VAUGHN! YAY! here's the fun article giving away a lot of spoilers. Kenny, this is for you! so it promises to be a good finale, hopefully doing justice to the original storyline. we shall see!

i really havent found another show that i can latch onto. i make time for Greys Anatomy and Smallville usually. a lil bit of Lost now and then. but still, i dont cry if i miss an episode. i watch a lot of Full House repeats. and Animal Planet.

hmm. this is a crappy entry. but it will have to do. maybe someday i will write a substantial, thought-provoking piece. hold your breath. [you may end up passing out, but thats your problem.]

stay fly,
sharon

"Inertia Is A Property of Matter"
February 07, 2006
11:03 PM

more great news! how many of you remember a 1990s show you would race home after school to watch...to see what kind of mess its main character was getting himself into...the one with the car-boat...the one with the weird experimentation that made you oooh and aaah and giggle like a silly school girl....BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY...yes, thats what i was thinking too!!

well i loved that show..i even sent away for the cool BNTSG Science Kit complete with a beaker and magnifying glass! but more than the show, i loved Bill cuz he was such a fly geek. i even watched the NASA channel a couple years ago when the Mars Rover was all the rave b/c Bill was a special discussion panel member. ok so what is my point? bill got married!

Bill Nye, the Science Guy, Gets Hitched

NEW YORK (AP) -- Bill Nye is no longer the Single Guy. Nye, who hosted the educational PBS series "Bill Nye, the Science Guy" during its nine-year run, married his fiance Blair Tindall last Friday, it was announced Tuesday.

The 50-year-old, bow-tied Nye and Tindall, author of "Mozart in the Jungle" and a former concert oboist, exchanged vows at a conference where Nye spoke.

They were married by the Rev. Rick Warren, pastor and author of "The Purpose-Driven Life." Cellist Yo Yo Ma, accompanied by MIT Media Lab Professor Michael Hawley on the piano, performed a wedding march.

This is the first marriage for both. [article link]

I didn't know Bill was a Christian! And dang, he's 50? sheesh. but anyway yay! thanks to Kate for the heads up on this story.

I Spoke Too Soon

Okay so who believed me when I said version 16 was gonna be it for me? Yeah, I didnt believe me either. I decided to use the free time I had this week to redo my entire site - portfolio and all. Hopefully over time, the portfolio will continue to grow and open up new and exciting opportunities for me. I still need to work on a layout for that section.

Quick note..i think i broke the Archives configuration on Moveable Type, so for those of you who may have wanted to read entries from the past 3 years, you're out of luck for now. Who am I kidding? None of you care! That's right, all three of you loyal readers could care less about the technical issues of maintaining this crappy site, so enough of site talk.

So what's been going on with me? Well, I finally graduated from Hofstra with my MBA in Business Computer Information Systems. I'm looking for a full-time position somewhere. I went on my first SOLO vacation (i.e. without my family) in January, to Florida. Fun was had by all. Um..im part of ROCKFest New York which is putting on a Newsboys benefit concert this July 22nd at Hofstra Arena. Lastly, i've been doing the usual hanging out and other random stuff. For example, the last movie I saw was Hoodwinked. HILARIOUS. I plan on buying the DVD, its THAT good! I love movies that are sarcastic and witty and make the kinds of jokes I would make. This is one of those movies. Go see it!

Okay, I just logged in to test out this journal and it appears to be working better than ever so I guess I'll be back sooner or later (most likely later) with a random entry. And no, your monitor isnt playing tricks on you. I did in fact post this entry at nearly 3am. What can I tell ya, when a designer gets inspired, they stop at nothing til its completed. Time to pass out now.

hey everyone. as you can see, a new layout for a new year. after a 6 month hiatus im back and ready to reclaim my domain! i appreciate all the compliments, comments and suggestions (and threats) that many of you gave me urging me to keep the site going.

ive decided to keep it simple this time around, so dont expect those 3-month layout changes that ive become famous for. im sure Kate will be happy to hear that. um anyway..take a look around, i took down most of the unnecessary sections and just kept my design work and all that up. k well have fun lookin around and i'll try my best to post updates now and then.
